Our History

Established in 1979

Here at, The Time Center, we have serviced and restored over half a million timepieces since we opened our doors in 1978. The Master Technician and owner, Laiq Farooqui, has over 40 years of experience in servicing and restoring all types of timepieces. He received formal training from Swatch Group Ltd., American Watchmakers Institute (AWI) and other Master Watchmakers from various parts of the world.

1989 - Introduced Jewelry Sales & Repair

After 10 years with Bulova, he began doing trade work for over 30 different Jewelers and other trade shops. Thereafter, Laiq Farooqui opened The Time Center in 1978 and has been in business ever since – over 33 years.

We specialize in servicing high-grade watches, grandfather clocks and jewelry. We also perform full restoration on vintage and antique timepieces. Some of the most common brands that we deal with are Rolex, Omega, Longines, and other Swiss and American watches. We are also Authorized Dealers for Citizen, Bulova, Seiko, Skagen, and others.

The Beginning

After apprenticing for many years, he began his career with Bulova servicing Accutrons, which at that time, featured the most advance timekeeping technology – the tuning fork technology. Accutrons were considered the first ‘electric watch’ and qualified for the U.S. railroad certificate. It was considered the most accurate watch before Quartz technology was released in 1969. Along with Accutrons, other automatic and mechanical chronograph watches were serviced by Laiq.

The Journey

Along with watches, Laiq is an experienced clock smith servicing all types of clocks like Grandfather, Mantle, Cuckoo and Atmos clocks. Along with watches and clocks, we have a full service center to handle all type of Jewelry repair from soldiering broken chains to making custom design jewelry.

First I took my watch with a solar cell to the watch shop in Chicago, close to where I live. I was advised that element has to be replaced and cost will be around a $100. As two weeks has passed, and watch was not repaired still I picked it up and took it to this place. Two gentlemen at the counter advised me to put watch in the sun for 2 hours first and then come back if that does not help. Two hours later my watch is up and running. I know I am not a pro when it gets to maintenance of watches, but they decided not to take advantage of that. I respect that. This is the second time I am visiting this shop.
